The most asked questions

Is my bike affected by the WREN recall?

Stromer has voluntarily recalled approximately 6,500WREN” front forks fitted to its ST3, ST5 and ST7 speed pedelecs. Fewer than 5% of Stromer bikes currently in use are affected.

Specifically, some ST3, ST5 and ST7 models are affected — but only if they are equipped with WREN suspension forks with the serial numbers 403860-XXXXXXX-XXXX or 403523-XXXXXXX-XXXX.

Bikes with serial numbers 402446-XXXXXXX-XXXX or 402447-XXXXXXX-XXXX are NOT affected.

The serial number can be found on a QR code sticker on the inside of the left or right stanchion tube.

If you are unsure whether your Stromer model is affected, please check our dedicated service webpage.

When can the WREN fork be replaced? Is there an approximate timeframe?

Production of the new fork kits is running at full capacity. The first parts arrived with us in mid-February and are currently being distributed to dealers, which means the first repairs can already start now. We are flying components in weekly by air freight in order to accelerate the process as much as possible.

Because the WREN suspension forks used on the ST3, ST5 and ST7 models were developed specifically for Stromer, the model-specific versions require precise logistics. We expect the delivery of repair parts to be fully completed by the end of May.

Your authorised Stromer dealer will inform you directly as soon as the parts for your bike are available. Thank you for your patience during this complex logistics process.

What is the difference between Pre.Select and Auto Shift Pro?
  • Pre.Select (semi-automatic): Your Stromer automatically shifts into the appropriate gear when you coast without pedalling. While pedalling, you shift manually. Available on all vehicles with Pinion Smart.Shift.
  • Auto Shift Pro (fully automatic): Your Stromer also shifts automatically while you pedal – based on your target cadence. Available on vehicles with the latest Pinion Smart.Shift hardware from software version 4.5.2.5.

Both modes can be overridden at any time by shifting manually.

How do I store the battery of my Stromer e-bike if I do not use it for a long time?

Stromer e-bike: Storage of the e-bike battery

To store the battery of your Stromer e-bike, in winter for example, we have developed the battery bag, which fits all Stromer batteries (except the BQ1440). The special, fireproof fabric combination offers safe protection during transport and storage as well as additional safety during charging of the battery.

Important notes on the long-term storage of your e-bike battery:

  • Store the e-bike battery in a dry place at room temperature (10 – 25 °C). The permissible storage temperature range of -20 – 60 °C must be maintained.
  • The charge status for long-term storage should be between 40 % and 80 %. This should be checked regularly (every 4 – 8 weeks) to prevent deep discharge.
  • Do not store the e-bike battery together with metal objects.
  • Protect the e-bike battery from direct sunlight, water and other liquids.
  • Never store several batteries stacked or next to each other.

You can order the battery bag from your dealer.
